26 Promotions – Casa Grande, AZ – (March 17, 2020) – A hot and windy afternoon made for difficult racing conditions as the San Tan Ford Sprint Car Series roared in to Central Arizona Speedway for the Cotton Classic. Sprint car veteran, Rick Shuman unloaded his beautiful orange No. 25AZ in hopes to set a high standard for the rest of the season.

Hot laps would begin the festivities, with heat race action immediately following where Shuman would roll off from the fifth starting position. With a track that was already loosing traction, Shuman clawed his way to a fourth place finish, advancing one position and giving him the opportunity to be a part of a redraw to set the starting order for the feature.

Any experienced dirt track racer understands the advantage of starting on the pole on a track that has lost a lot of grip, so when Shuman redrew the pole for the feature, it was a great feeling for the entire crew.

“The track was literally gone after the heats, with the temperatures in the 80s and the wind blowing,” said Shuman. “We tightened up the chassis and decided to catfish the bottom. We led the first two laps and Sterling Cling was really fast in the middle and got by us, so we settled in second and that’s where we finished.”

The second-place finish for Shuman marks his best career finish with the San Tan Ford Sprint Car Series.

Shuman is headed to Cocopah Speedway for this weekend’s POWRi Border Tour Series 360 Sprint Car opener.

Rick Shuman would like to thank Joe Campos and John Hunter for the great car as well as Allen and Lisa at Beadle Bug Patrol and Cliff at Advanced Packaging for their continued support.
