26 Promotions – Tucson, AZ – (October 31, 2019) – The 2019 Klein Engines Thunder Truck Series season came to an end Saturday night at Tucson Speedway and it ended with Cody Cambensy in a familiar place.

With championship hopes still alive, Cambensy knew the stars would have to align perfectly for him to leave the speedway with a championship in hand.

The night kicked off with heat races instead of qualifying. Cambensy lined up sixth for the start and only had six laps to gain as many passing points as possible. Cambensy was up on the wheel from the drop of the green and would make the pass for the lead on lap two. He would go on to win the heat and picking up all the passing points available to him.

Lining up on the outside of the second row for the start of the feature, Cambensy knew he would need to accumulate all the points possible again to have a chance at a championship and he did just that. Cambensy took the lead on the opening lap and wouldn’t look back, earning his sixth win in his last seven races.

“The truck was amazing, and we hardly made any adjustments all weekend,” explained Cambensy. “That set us up to win 50% of the races we ran, this season. Unfortunately, the incidents during the season kept us just a few points short of winning the title.”

Cambensy came up 21-points short of the Klein Engines Thunder Truck Series championship but did lead the series in wins.

“I can’t be too disappointed about the season with seven wins, five poles, a Chilly Willy win, and setting a new track record,” he said. “As much as I wanted the championship, I know we did all we could. I can’t thank all of TMI enough for the hard work. Looking forward to what 2020 can bring.”
