26 Promotions – Tucson, AZ – (June 11, 2019) – Cody Cambensy and his number 22 Tucson Motorsports Inc. Thunder Truck continue to show they have the speed to consistently run up front as they proved once again with duel 30-lap features Saturday night at Tucson Speedway.

Cambensy and his team entered the weekend behind schedule after thrashing on the truck following the damaged caused during an incident on the final lap of the May 25th race.

“We didn’t get the parts we needed for the truck and had to make do with what we had,” explained Cambensy. “So, with the big help of Brandon Farrington, we were able to get it close to my driving style.”

You wouldn’t know the team was having any issues by looking at the speed charts as Cambensy claimed his fifth straight quick time with a lap of 16.310 seconds.

A four-truck invert would see Cambensy start the first feature event from the outside of the second row and with two features to run, tire conservation would again factor into the decision making early in the race.

“We quickly made it up to battle with our teammate, Bob Santa Maria, for second,” said Cambensy. “After a few laps, I decided to follow in line to start saving tires until 10 to go. We ran bumper to bumper, leaving the field. I started to make a run for the lead and the truck began to get tighter and tighter. Rather than burning the tires up, knowing we had another main event to run, I just backed it down and finished third.”

Taking the green from sixth for the second feature, the intensity was turned up a notch from the start as the Thunder Trucks were racing three and four wide. Cambensy reported early that the truck was loose and hard to make anything happen on the bottom. Cambensy worked his way up to third and began battling with the 5 of Ron Shriner and the 16 of Dustin Jones for the lead.

“They were beating on each other pretty hard, so I stayed close, but I was patient, waiting for them to make a mistake,” he explained. “When the 16 started to pull away, I made my move on the 5 truck and was able to get to second and tried all I could to run down the 16. The truck just kept getting tighter and tighter again.”

Cambensy took the checkered flag in second scoring his second podium finish of the night.

“I was happy with the weekend finishing in the top three of both features and getting our fifth quick time in a row. It wasn’t the finish I wanted especially after what happened last race. We have some work to do but that’s our fifth top three of the year so nothing to hang our heads low,” said Cambensy. "Big thank you to everyone at TMI for all their hard work, Brandon Farrington Josh Hitchiner, Terry Skulaski and everyone else as well as the sponsors."

Cody Cambensy would like to thank Dustin Ash Motorsports, Brandon Farrington, Josh Hitchiner, Terry Sukalski, Temperature Control, Davis Motorsports, Grace Boutique, Wells Johnson, Port of Tucson, Fiveone Media, and AZ Litho for their support.
