26 Promotions – Queen Creek, AZ – (April 18, 2019) – Rick Shuman’s return to the track in the No. 25AZ with the San Tan Ford ASCS Desert Sprint Car Series started out on a high note Saturday with a lot of comfortability built into the car for hot laps coupled with a nice pill draw.

A short heat race would kick off the racing action for Shuman as he took the green flag from the third position. Often a difficult track to tackle in any condition, the Arizona Speedway was fast from the start.

“We jumped up to second right away,” explained Shuman. “I messed up getting into turn three and fell back to third and that is where we ended up.”

The third-place finish in the heat race was enough to give the No. 25AZ team a ninth-place starting position as the Desert Sprint Cars geared up for 25 laps of intense action.

“We only had about ten minutes to get ready for the feature,” said Shuman. “We tightened up the car and went out. We moved up right away to sixth and settled in. When we went red for the Dennis Gile crash, I noticed something was amiss with the motor. We went back yellow and the motor was really flat and began smoking a bit. I made the decision to pull (the car) in, ending our night early.”

Further review showed that the motor had dropped a valve in the number two cylinder. Although it was not the night that the team had hoped for, it was still enough to record a 14th place finish for the evening.

Rick Shuman would like to thank Allen and Lisa at Beadle Bug Patrol and Cliff at Advanced Packaging for their continued support.
