The transition to include eSports to the extensive lineup that 26 Promotions offers comes after a major shift in the motorsports industry. Key players in some of the largest motorsports organizations such as NASCAR and World Of Outlaws have recently announced online teams. Although all online motorsports platforms are welcomed to the 26 team, the most notable of late has been iRacing with pro eSports teams and drivers popping up left and right.
“The iRacing world has evolved a lot more the past few years for the dirt scene ever since dirt became available on iRacing,” explained Cody Batten. “iRacing is a great tool for race car drivers to practice in the offseason and keep up on their driving skills during the season if they want to practice on a track that they haven’t been to in a while. The iRacing sim is the most realistic thing you can drive without actually being in the car.”
Real-life teams have recently poured in the support to the online community, strengthening its existence even further than it has in years prior.
“The competition is stiffer than ever with real-life teams coming to the sim world such as Kasey Kahne Racing and Kraig Kinser Racing,” said Batten. “Those are the teams to beat right now and I am excited to be the first iRacing driver to represent 26 Promotions, as they were a former sponsor in the last couple of years that I ran Sprint Cars.”
