26 Promotions - Peoria, AZ - (March 13, 2019) - TJ “Hollywood” Wyman snagged his first top-ten of the year as the IMCA Northern Sport Mods kicked off their points season at Canyon Speedway Park.
Hollywood’s weekend kicked off with heat race action on Friday night. Wyman ran most of the heat race in third but fell back one position with two laps left to finish fourth.
Wyman’s race result placed him ninth in the fifteen-car field for the start of the 20-lap race.
“We had a fast car all weekend, I told my dad to leave the car alone for the feature and I was glad I told him that,” he said. “We had a bad start and fell back to 15th, but we were able to drive it back up to a tenth-place finish on a green to checkered race.”
Saturday saw Hollywood start on the outside of the front row in the second of three IMCA Northern Sport Mod heat races.
“We took off on the start and lead half of the heat before the car pushed in turn three and we got passed by a couple of fast drivers in Chase Rudolf and Taylor Kuehl,” he stated. “I followed them from there and finished third in the heat.”
Wyman would start Saturday night’s feature from the outside of the front row.
“We got stuck on the high side when the track was all on the bottom. Cautions came out and I started on the bottom and figured out the line,” he explained. “We were fighting for sixth and took the position after battling for a couple of laps. We were catching fifth before the trailing arm broke and shifted our rear end and made the drive shaft come out. That ended our night, but man that car was a rocket. We will regroup and try again this weekend.”
Wyman official finished Saturday night’s feature in 15th.
Hollywood will be in action on Saturday night with the IMCA Northern Sport Mods at Arizona Speedway.
