26 Promotions - Tucson, AZ - (March 13, 2019) - Cody Cambensy raced to his second top-five finish of the season on Saturday as the NASCAR Super Trucks returned to action after a five-week break.

“This weekend would be the first race of the tire game for the season,” he explained. “Our series usually only gets one tire per race, but the track decided to allow everyone two for this weekend. We made the call to go out on older tires for the race and see how it would handle for races later in the year and needless to say it was a learning curve.”

Cambensy was second quick in practice and qualified quick time with a fast lap of 16.5 seconds, a tenth off the track record Cambensy set back in January.

“The truck was really free during practice and qualifying, but with the cold weather, we anticipated the track would tighten up,” Cambensy stated. “Well with old tires and cold temps that was not the case. With the invert putting us eighth, we had an extremely loose truck and could only make the outside work.”

Cambensy worked his way to the front and tried a couple runs on the bottom for the lead but was never able to get the forward drive the truck needed. Disaster almost struck when Cambensy would try to pass his teammate, Bob Santa Maria, for second. The two made contact almost sending both to the infield causing Cambensy to lose a few spots. Cambensy would regroup and fight back for a fourth-place finish.

"It was a learning night for us on the new Hoosier tires for the series. We know the changes that will need to be made when running on old tires,” he continued. “I really feel bad about getting into Bob. He had such a great run going and I really screwed up and ruined that for him. It was a solid night for the team getting a top five and our second pole for the season. Big thanks to Terry Sukaski and Brandon Farrington.”

Cambensy will enter Tucson Speedway on April 13th with a seven-point advantage in the NASCAR Super Truck Series and he will make his season debut in a Modified on March 23rd at Tucson Speedway.

Cody Cambensy would like to thank Davis Motorsports, Temperature Control, Port of Tucson, Wells Johnson, Castle Roofing, Fiveone Media, AZ Litho, and Tucson Motorsports Inc for their support.
