26 Promotions – Tucson, AZ – (January 29, 2019) – Cody Cambensy kicked off the 2019 NASCAR Super Truck Season over the weekend with the 6th Annual Chilly Willy at Tucson Speedway.

Thursday would mark Cambensy’s first appearance in the Tucson Motorsports Inc. 22 after moving over from the No. 51 machine during the offseason. With the help of Brandon Farrington and Josh Hichner, Cambensy unloaded fast out of the trailer ending Thursday’s practice session on top of the speed charts.

Friday’s portion of the Chilly Willy would see the NASCAR Super Trucks perform single truck qualifying before running three heat races to determine the starting lineup for Saturday afternoon’s feature event.

“Before qualifying, Terry Sukalaski, myself, and Dustin Ash decided to make a few changes to the truck,” Cambensy explained. “We went out and qualified on the pole with a [lap time of] 16.458, setting a new track record.”

Starting on the pole for the eight-lap heat race, Cambensy would lead from the drop of the green to the checkered to wrap up the evening as he and his TMI team focused on Saturday’s $2,000 to win 50-lap feature event.

“With the invert, we started eighth for the race. As soon as the green flag dropped, we were able to make our way through the field pretty quickly,” he described. “We got to second by lap five and started chasing down the leader. We were able to catch him and get by him at lap fifteen and started to pull away.”

With the help of his spotter, Frank Deiny, Cambensy pulled out to a comfortable lead and began the task of conserving tires. The caution-free race would leave Cambensy in victory lane taking home the $2,000 pay-day, taking the checkers with a half-second lead.

With the perfect weekend, Cambensy currently holds a ten-point lead atop of the NASCAR Super Truck Series standings. Cambensy will be back in action with the NASCAR Super Trucks on March 9th at Tucson Speedway.

Cody Cambensy would like to thank Davis Motorsports, Temperature Control, Port of Tucson, Dustin Ash Motorsports, Wells Johnson, Castle Roofing, Fiveone Media, Sun Shield, and Tucson Motorsports Inc for their support.
