26 Promotions – Madera, CA – (October 11, 2018) – Dylan Cappello left Madera Speedway disappointed after a fifth-place run at one of his best tracks on the Lucas Oil Modified Series circuit.

“Going into Madera, the team and I were extremely confident in our ability to win at this track. We nearly had it won last time, but with a motor expiring with less than five laps to go, we ended with a DNF,” said Cappello. “We went into practice Friday night with a plan to see how our speed and handling changed as the sun went down and more rubber was laid down. The outside lane seemed to be preferred towards the end of the night, and we felt like our car was well suited.”

Following Friday night’s practice, Cappello and his team went over ideas they had in hopes of gaining more speed for the race on Saturday night.

On Saturday morning, Cappello struggled to put together the mock qualifying run they were looking for and knew it would be a tough task to find the speed during qualifying.

The Hitman qualified eighth, missing the dash, but luck would be on his side when an eight was pulled for the feature invert, placing him on the pole for the start of the 75-lap race.

“The green flag dropped, and we just didn’t quite have the drive off and cut through the center to keep up with the leader,” he explained. “We fell back to second initially and lost another spot with each restart.”

Cappello would battle hard to keep the car in the top five, crossing the line fifth to secure his sixth top-five finish of the year.

“I hate to be disappointed after a top-five finish in a great field of cars, but that just isn’t what we showed up to do,” he said. “All of us expect to win, and we just missed it by a little bit this time. We will be back for Havasu ready to close out the season strong.”

Cappello will return to the dirt this weekend as he pilots the Streaker Racing 20az Micro Sprint at Canyon Speedway Park, and he will be back in action with the Lucas Oil Modified Series on October 27th at Havasu 95 Speedway.

Dylan Cappello would like to thank Geico, Quick Response Garage Doors, Spray Nine, Driven Motorsports, Team RBK, Pro Power Racing Engines, Total Power Batteries, Roger Seymour Photography, and Bilstein Shocks for their support.
