26 Promotions – Show Low, AZ – (August 2, 2018) – Jarrett Martin scored his fourth Micro Sprint victory of the year Friday night at Show Low Speedway Park’s Arizona vs. New Mexico Challenge.

“I knew we were going to be good in Show Low if I could stay smart in the race car and make sure everything went smoothly,” he said. “We rolled out of the trailer pretty good, but after hot laps, I knew we were lacking something in the car.”

Martin’s third to second advancement in his heat locked him into the third starting spot for the 20-lap Wing Micro Sprint feature event.

“After the heat race and before the feature we walked the track to try to get an idea of how and where it was going away,” explained Martin. “We made some key changes to the car for the feature, and it was almost perfect.”

Martin lost the lead on the initial start but hung with they leader as the battled for the position.

“We managed to stay with the leader and tried a couple moves before one stuck coming off of turn two,” he explained. “There was a yellow shortly after and I knew I had to get a good restart and finish out the race in the lead without making mistakes. I got to lap cars with a few to go, but I was able to get around them quickly and take the win.”

Martin felt confident entering Saturday’s Non-Wing Micro event after a successful first night and having already picked up a victory without the wings at the track earlier in the year.

“Saturday was relatively easy going after being fast the night before and successful earlier in the year at the first Non-Wing race in Show Low,” he said. “We got the car cleaned up, and all our maintenance done and took it easy before heading to the track.”

Martin picked up the heat race win from the pole on Saturday night, locking himself into the feature re-draw where he’d pull the one to start on the pole for the start of the Micro main.

“I still felt we were missing some speed in the car after hot laps,” he said. “After the heat race, we noticed that the track wasn’t changing as fast as the night before. We made some changes to the car before heading out for the feature.”

The start of the feature would see a few cautions and red flag conditions before the first official laps were completed.

“Once we finally got to racing for a few laps, and by about halfway I had found a good groove and had a solid lead on the field,” Martin explained. “Going into turn one the motor went totally flat, I thought it had blown up. Then after trying to get it to pick up and go again, it finally came back alive coming off of two. At that point, I had fallen back to third with only six or seven laps to go. I managed to drive it back up to second before the end but didn’t have enough time to get back by the leader.”

Martin currently has four wins, 11 top five and 14 top ten finishes following his weekend in Show Low.

Martin will be back in the Steve Stone Racing 57 ASCS Sprint Car and the Streaking Racing 20az Micro Sprint on September 1st and 2nd at Show Low Speedway Park.

Jarrett Martin would like to thank Streaker Racing, K Corp, Pace Chassis, My Race Pass, Paint by Steve, The Race Shack, and Bell Helmets for their continued support.
