26 Promotions – Bakersfield, CA – (July 3, 2018) – Blake Rogers posted a top-ten and career-best finish at Kern County Raceway on Saturday night with the Lucas Oil Modified Series.
“In practice, the car was rough and needed a few adjustments with the speed the cars are reaching, about 150 MPH, you have to have control of the car,” explained Rogers. “We were running slow times, while others were getting practice times of 19.1 seconds we were only able to get 19.8.”
The team changed tires and hoped to lay down a fast lap in qualifying to avoid having to push the car early in the feature. Rogers fastest lap of 19.164 would be eighth quick at the end of qualifying, lining him up on the outside of the fourth row for the start of the 75-lap feature.
Rogers ran most of the feature in seventh as the field was spread out throughout the track
“Kern is all about power under the hood, as it’s the biggest track the Lucas Oil Modifieds visit,” he said. “We didn’t have enough power to stay up with the others but all in all we had a great run with what we had. We had a clean run, which is great because there is limited time to get the car ready before we head to Salt Lake. We are hoping for more great finishes like this to get back up in the point standings.”
Rogers currently sits eighth in Lucas Oil Modified Series points with six races remaining; he is back in action with the Lucas Oil Modifieds on July 21st at Rocky Mountain Raceway.
Blake Rogers would like to thank Lucas Oil, FIRM Inc., MGM Design, Jacks Auto Parts, Mitchell’s Merchant Patrol, Pacesetter Home Centers, Arce Race Engines, Dune Company of Yuma, Big W Sales, and Super Clean for their continued support.
