26 Promotions - Show Low, AZ - (June 13, 2018) - Jarrett Martin charged from his mid-pack starting position to score his third straight Non-Wing Micro Sprint victory Saturday night at Show Low Speedway Park.
“We have definitely had our ups and downs at Show Low, it seems like we’re either winning or wrecking when we go up there,” said Martin. “The track was pretty rough in hot laps; it was pretty bad almost all the way around. Throughout the night it got a little better, but it was still pretty challenging.”
Starting third in heat two, Martin was determined to get to the front to secure a front row starting position for the feature.
“I had a good start in the heat, but I was a little too impatient going into turn one but ended up staying in third,” he said. “I spent the entire race catching back up to second and went for the position on the last lap in turn three and ended up losing another spot to finish fourth.”
Martin’s fourth-place finish would line him up eighth for the start of the twenty-lap Micro feature.
“I walked the track before the feature and took note of some places that I thought might go away before the end of our race,” he explained. “After comparing that to some of our notes from last years Show Low races, my dad and I settled on some changes to make to the car. We were a little bit tight in the early stages of the race, but the car was working well enough for us to go forward.”
Martin quickly moved through the field, gaining five positions in the first seven laps.
“The track started going away after the first five laps and the car came to us in the slick,” he said. “We picked off the two cars ahead of us to take the lead and built a decent gap until we caught a late red with four to go.”
Martin controlled the restart and pulled away in the closing laps to secure his third micro sprint win of the year.
After twelve straight weeks of racing, Martin will have the next two weekends off before returning for the Steve Stone Racing sprint car on June 30th at Arizona Speedway.
