Blake Rogers Nets Top-Ten Finish in Vegas

26 Promotions – Las Vegas, NV – (May 9, 2018) – Blake Rogers is happy to move on from a tough weekend at the Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway with an eighth-place finish in hand.

“The weekend started out kind of rough for the team and the car,” said Rogers. “Friday night in practice we were three-tenths off the pace. Vegas is a track where you need a bigger engine in order to stay in front. Unfortunately, the engine wasn’t complete this weekend, which made the car have to work harder to stay up front.”

Rogers qualified 13th on Saturday afternoon, placing him on the inside of the seventh row to start the 75-lap feature.

“It was a tough race having to make the car give it all it had, the crew spent Friday and Saturday trying to adjust gears in hopes we would have qualified better,” Rogers explained. “We had a decent start, pushing up two positions until a caution came out.”

On a track that is run mostly around the bottom, Rogers chose to start in the outside lane. The decision proved to be the right one, as Rogers gained five positions on the restart. But, an incident around the halfway point of the race would send Rogers to the back of the pack.

“Cars were cutting back down to get the inside line, and you both go to the back if they wreck,” he said. “I was pushed to the back and had to force my way back up to the front. The car was hot, and the tires were done at this point in the race. But, that didn’t stop this team from working together in order to take an eighth-place finish, which is our best in Las Vegas.”

The Lucas Oil Modified Series has the rest of May off and will return to action on June 9th at Madera Speedway in Madera, California.

Blake Rogers would like to thank Lucas Oil, FIRM Inc., MGM Design, Jacks Auto Parts, Mitchell’s Merchant Patrol, Pacesetter Home Centers, Arce Race Engines, Dune Company of Yuma, Big W Sales, and Super Clean for their continued support.
