26 Promotions – Queen Creek, AZ – (March 27, 2018) – After a rough outing in his Sprint Car debut three weeks ago, Jarrett Martin expected better results in his second race in the Steve Stone Racing 57 machine at Arizona Speedway.

“The night started out well after I had a pretty decent feel for the car in hot laps,” he said. “I felt more comfortable than I had expected for never racing at Arizona Speedway before.”

Starting on the outside of the front row in the second heat, Martin fought the car as the field entered the first corner.

“I went into turn one and got pretty tight up high, and a few guys went by on the first lap,” said Martin. “I was getting better and picking up a little bit of feel for the track, but I still ended up sixth.”

Missing the feature re-draw, Martin started the 25-lap feature twelfth.

“Before the feature, the crew was telling me to expect it to take rubber pretty early,” he explained. “It was only a few laps into the race before it started to rubber down up high and that became the place to be. I was getting a feel for going in the corner faster and faster each lap.”

Martin worked his way to eighth but struggled to adapt to the changing track conditions.

“As the groove started to move lower, I had a hard time staying in it,” he said. “I moved the wing too far forward and spun myself out about halfway through the feature.”

Martin rebounded from his error as he passed cars while preserving his tires on the rubber down track, finishing the night in ninth to claim his first career top ten finish.

“I have to thank Steve Stone for this opportunity, he has great equipment, and he has confidence in me and his team,” said Martin. “For my first full night in a Wing Sprint Car, I think we are in a good place. I have a lot to learn but I’ve got good people and equipment behind me, and we got off to a solid start.”

Martin returns to ASCS Southwest Region action on Saturday at Central Arizona Speedway.

Jarrett Martin would like to thank Steve Stone Racing, Torco Race Fuels, Macenzie Motorsports, Southwest T-Shirt Company, The Race Shack, Paint by Steve, and J&J Auto Racing for their support.
