26 Promotions – Casa Grande, AZ – (March 27, 2018) – Dale Eliason Jr’s strong start to the 2018 season continued Saturday night on the newly configured small track at Central Arizona Speedway.

The Iceman opened his weekend on Friday night with three practice sessions that allowed him to get a feel for the new track and break in a brand-new motor before Saturday night’s race.

“I didn’t know what to expect from the track, but it looked really smooth and a lot different from the track we run at Canyon,” explained Eliason Jr. “We took the non-wing car out first, and the track was really tacky around the middle, after that we took the wing car out to break in the motor and test the front brakes for Saturday night.”

Heat races kicked off the racing program on Saturday night. Eliason Jr drove away from the field, after taking the lead in turn one of the opening lap, to pick up the heat race win. With a four-car invert, Eliason Jr started the 20-lap feature on the outside of the second row.

Eliason Jr fell back on the start as the outside line struggled to get going, but he quickly recovered grabbing third as the field entered turn three. Eliason Jr moved into second a few laps later when the car in front of him slid up the track, from there the Iceman set his sights on the lead.

“I kept gaining ground on the leader, and a yellow came out,” he explained. “I was on his bumper for two laps before he slid up and his chain popped off, putting us in the lead. We were able to pull away from there.”

Eliason Jr led the final eleven laps, taking the checkered flags with a 1.721 second advantage over second-place.

Dale Eliason Jr is tentatively scheduled to run this weekend at Canyon Speedway Park with the Non-Wing Micro’s.

Eliason Jr would like to thank Affordable Powder Coating & Affordable Extreme Coatings, Custom Caretaking Plus INC, Guhl Motors, Industrial Machinery Services, PMP Chassis, Hamblin Motorsports, and T & K Repair for their support.
