26 Promotions – Las Vegas, NV – (March 7, 2018) – After opening the USAC Southwest Series season at Canyon Speedway Park with a fifth-place finish, Tye Mihocko and his team headed to The Dirt Track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway for two nights of USAC Southwest and USAC West Coast Series action.

“We went into night one with high expectation,” said Mihocko. “We had decent speed to start the night and qualified tenth. We started on the pole in heat one, and I made a couple of mistakes that allowed Justin Grant, and Tyler Courtney by and ended up fourth.”

With a zero pulled for the invert, Mihocko would start night one of the Las Vegas FVP Outlaw Showdown from tenth.

“We struggled early and were back to about thirteenth or fourteenth,” explained Mihocko. “We made a late charge to get by a couple of cars in the closing laps. We knew where we were lacking and made the adjustments heading into night two.”

After applying what they learned from a ninth-place finish on night one, Mihocko kicked off night qualifying fifth quick, placing him on the inside on the second row to start heat two.

“We jumped out to second on lap one of the heat and then went to the top,” he said. “That allowed Stevie Sussex to get around us and it was follow the leader from there.”

Missing the six-car invert by two, Mihocko started the final night of the Las Vegas FVP Showdown eighth and found himself running mid-pack throughout the feature event.

“We struggled for all thirty laps,” Mihocko said. “But, after watching the in-car videos, we know where we could have picked up some speed, so we’ll regroup and head out to Canyon Speedway Park this Friday and Saturday for our debut in the 410.”

On Monday, USAC West Coast and Southwest Officials announced that the winner of both nights of the Las Vegas FVP Showdown was disqualified due to a misinterpretation of the engine rules. Mihocko is now officially scored as finishing eighth on Wednesday night and eleventh on Thursday.

Mihocko returns to action on Friday and Saturday at Canyon Speedway Park where he will make his first start with a 410 engine with the USAC CRA Series.
