26 Promotions – Peoria, AZ – (February 27, 2018) – 14-year-old Keelan Matthews officially made the jump from the Outlaw Kart ranks to Micro Sprints on Saturday night at Canyon Speedway Park.
Due to his rookie status, Matthews would have to start at the tail of the field for his heat, where he would finish fifth from seventh.
Matthews started the 25-lap feature in 16th and maneuvered his way to a top 10 finish in his opening race.
“We had a great night, we had to tag all night, but the track held up good, and we were able to pull off a ninth-place finish with a full field of 21 cars,” said Matthews. “Thanks to my family and the McDonald’s for all their help.”
Matthews makes his Wing Micro Sprint debut at Canyon Speedway Park's March Meltdown on Saturday night.
