26 Promotions – Peoria, AZ – (November 30th, 2017) – Clay Sprau’s rookie season with the Power 600 Series came to a close last weekend with Canyon Speedway Park’s Harvest Hustle.

The opening night didn’t get off to the best of starts for Sprau, starting on the outside of the front row in his heat, Sprau got tangled up with the leader and spun out. He’d come back to finish fourth, lining him up tenth for the start of the feature.

“The setup we had was really good for the track conditions, so we didn’t make many changes for the main,” explained Sprau. “I moved my way up to fifth by about halfway. The car felt really good, but as the track changed, it took me too long to adjust my line and the leaders got away. But, I was really happy bringing home another top five.”

Saturday night’s season finale saw Sprau line up sixth for his heat race. Sprau fell back to seventh on the start when the car in front of him encountered engine troubles, but Sprau recovered to finish fourth. The result earned Sprau just enough passing points to make the six-car feature invert, lining him up on the pole.

“On the start, I fell back to second and then on the second lap I got tagged by the car behind me and got spun out,” said Sprau. “I made my way back up through the field until I got stuck in traffic, finishing in eighth. It wasn’t what I was hoping for, starting on the pole, but we brought the car home in one piece.”

Sprau finishes the year with five top five and eleven top ten finishes to go along with the Power 600 Series Rookie of the Year title.

“All in all, it was a great season with taking home the Rookie of the Year title and my Streaker Racing teammate bringing home the Power 600 Series Championship,” he said. “Thank you to my family at Streaker Racing and my girlfriend Dee for all the support this season. Congrats to Jarrett Martin for bringing home the championship.”

Clay Sprau would like to thank K Corp, Resolute Performance Contracting, Paint by Steve, and The Race Shack for their support this season.
