26 Promotions – Peoria, AZ – (October 24th, 2017) – Coming off his best finish of the season and with the Rookie of the Year title all but wrapped up, Clay Sprau looks to finish the final three races of the season strong and that started with Saturday night’s Race for the Cure event at Canyon Speedway Park.

“In hot laps, the track was still pretty slippery, so it was hard to get a read on our setup,” said Sprau. “I drew a decent pill that lined us up third for the start of our heat. I fell back to fourth on the start because of the slippery conditions. I moved to the high side and was able to make up time and pass a couple cars to finish second.”

Sprau earned enough passing points to make the top six feature invert, where he would start third.

“The car had a good balance in the heat race so I really didn’t do anything to the setup for the main,” he explained. “I realized within the first couple of laps that the car was way too tight, but ran third until the first caution. After the restart, I drove into turn one and the car got tight and three cars drove around me on the bottom. I was able to make the pass for fifth, but got tight again and fell back to seventh. I tried multiple times to make the pass for sixth but was just too tight.”

Sprau was awarded the sixth position after the race when another competitor in front of him was disqualified.

Sprau now has four top five and nine top ten finishes this season.

Sprau closes out his rookie campaign on November 24th and 25th at Canyon Speedway Park’s Harvest Hustle.

Clay Sprau would like to thank K Corp, Resolute Performance Contracting, Paint by Steve, and The Race Shack for their continued support.
