26 Promotions – Peoria, AZ – (September 19th, 2017) – The Power 600 Series returned to action Saturday night at Canyon Speedway Park, Jarrett Martin entered just ten points behind in the championship hunt.

Martins was scheduled to start fourth in his heat race but moved up to the outside of the front row when the car in front of him was unable to make the call.

“In wheel packing, I was taking notice of the track conditions on each end of the track and one and two was already looking pretty different from three and four,” Martin explained. “I fell back to second on the start and was slowly reeling in the leader. The car wasn’t handling very well, we had it too loose in three and four. We started catching lap traffic and the leader got tangled up with another car, so we took the lead and didn’t look back.”

Martin was the night’s top passing point earner, placing him sixth in the lineup for the twenty-five lap feature.

“I knew I had some ground to make up,” said Martin. “I was trying not to push the issue because it’s easy to give positions up or get tangled up with somebody if you make mistakes. But until about halfway I think we were just as good as the cars in front of us.”

Martin moved into fourth in the early portion of the race and remained there until the front two cars hooked bumpers and spun in turn four before the halfway point.

“After the 21s and 7 got together, I was trying to figure out what I could do with the 1AZ to get the lead,” he said. “Until about 5 to go, I was making up ground in one and two but he was better than me in three and four almost all race. Congrats to Paul on the win, he ran a good race. “

Unofficially, Martin still sits second in the Power 600 Series standings but narrowed the gap down to one point.

Martin is back in action this weekend as the Streaker Racing team makes the trip up north to Show Low Speedway Park to run Non-Wing.

Jarrett Martin would like to thank Streaker Racing, K Corp, Pace Chassis, MyRacePass, The Race Shack, Paint by Steve, Resolute Performance Contracting, and Bell Helmets for their continued support.
