26 Promotions – Show Low, AZ – (September 6th, 2017) – It has been a tough season for Brandon Sutton and Sutton Motorsports. They have competed in nine races so far this season and have yet to finish a full main event. All of that changed this past weekend in Show Low.

After hot laps on Saturday night, Sutton felt good about the setup of the car going into his heat where he would start on the pole.

“I got the jump off the start and led the majority of the heat race,” said Sutton. “The car was just a little loose off turn two and Dale Eliason Jr was able to get under me in turn three, we ended up running second to him.”

The heat result put Sutton in the feature redraw, where he drew the lowest pill placing him on the pole for the start of the race.

“We got the jump on the start and we were checked out,” he explained. “We had a yellow on lap five or six, I knew I’d have to cowboy up with Jarrett Martin and Dale Jr behind me. I tried to keep them behind me, but I think the tires sealed over under yellow. I had a good battle with Jarrett for a few laps but he got by me and just pulled away. I made some rookie moves and I think that partially cost me a win.”

Sutton went on to finish third on Saturday night for his first feature finish of the year.

Sutton looked to build off that momentum on Sunday night as the Micros stripped off the wings.

“We got to the track on Sunday and it looked like it had more water on it than the day before,” he said. “We went out for hot laps and the track was fast, I’d say we were running as fast as the Sprint Cars were.”

Starting third in his heat, Sutton quickly maneuvered his way to the lead.

“I was trying some stuff to see if it would improve my corner entry and Dale Jr was able to get by me,” he said. “We ended up finishing second and redrew the second starting spot for the main event.”

Sutton got the jump on the start, but Eliason Jr took over the position on the following lap as a three-car battle ensued for the lead.

“Jarrett got underneath me, I slid him going into one and he crossed under and hit a rut which caused him to hit me in the rear bumper and spun me and he went flipping,” Sutton explained. “Luckily, I did a full 360 and kept going. I’m glad that Jarrett is ok after the ride he took.”

Sutton restarted second and tried to challenge Eliason Jr for the lead.

“I tried my best to keep up with Dale but he just outdrove me through the ruts,” said Sutton. “For as young as he is, the kid is fast, congrats to him on the win.”

Sutton finished second to close out the Labor Day weekend in Show Low.

“After the luck we’ve had this year, to end up with two podiums this weekend was above my expectations,” he said. “It’s actually the only two mains we’ve finished this year, I think we are close to capturing our first win this year for Sutton Motorsports and we showed we will be a front-runner the rest of the season. I wouldn’t be able to do what I love without all the people who support me and get me to the track each race.”

Sutton’s next race is September 16th at Canyon Speedway Park.

Brandon Sutton would like to thank Sutton Signs & Apparel, Liquid Nitro, Coyote Race Chassis, Jerry Miller Fabrication, Vape Gravy, Waves Project, RSS Industries, Uniquities Furniture, SDR Racing, and Royal Vapor for their continued support.
