26 Promotions – Peoria, AZ – (May 24th, 2017) – Clay Sprau has been knocking on the door of the Top 10 this season with finishes ranging from 11th to 13th. Saturday night at Canyon Speedway Park Sprau charged through the door, picking up his first Top 10 of his young career.

Sprau’s night got off to a bit of a rough start in his Heat race where he’d finish fifth after starting second.

“On the start, I fell back to 3rd in turn 2,” Sprau explained. “I battled a loose car throughout the Heat until I finally spun out on the last lap.”

Sprau was scheduled to line up fourteenth but with two cars unable to make the call, he’d inherit the tenth starting spot when the green flag dropped. Sprau grabbed two positions on the opening lap and moved into seventh after a caution on lap two.

“We made some changes to tighten the car up for the Main,” said Sprau. “But we didn’t go far enough. After the first caution, I battled a loose race car with no forward grip throughout the rest of the Main.”

Sprau did challenge for the sixth position at the end of the race but was never able to complete the pass. The seventh-place finish earned Sprau the Bobby Q Hard Charger Award and helped cushion his lead in the Rookie of the Year standings.

Sprau returns to action on Saturday and Sunday night for the Salute to Indy events at Canyon Speedway Park.

“I have to thank everyone at Streaker Racing for the all hard work and my girlfriend Dee for supporting what I love,” he said.

Sprau would also like to thank K Corp, Resolute Performance Contracting, Paint by Steve and The Race Shack for their continued support.
