26 Promotions – Peoria, AZ – (May 17th, 2017) – After a six-week break, Dylan Cappello and the rest of the Lucas Oil Modified Series presented by Ram Mounts make their way to The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway for this weekend’s third race of the championship schedule.
“I love The Bullring overall as a racetrack,” said Cappello. “It is a track where you can really attack the corners and be aggressive. In the past, there has been carnage, so staying out front will be key.”
Cappello enters Saturday’s event sitting 7th in the point standings and looks to rebound from a 14th place finish on April 8th in Tucson.
“We’ve had a lot of time to think about how we can improve at The Bullring the past six weeks,” he said. “We have been fast there and I have a lot of laps under my belt too, so just a couple minor changes have been made that we believe will add some speed.”
The Hitman has had past success in Las Vegas with 4 top 5’s including a win in 2015 in six starts. The one blemish on his record at the track came last year when he was forced to retire after completing only 2 laps.
“Last year’s result was due to a pushrod failure on lap 3,” Cappello explained. “Considering we had the 2nd fastest lap while still in traffic early in the race, I thought the car was going to be really good.”
Action at The Bullring gets underway Friday with practice from 3:30 to 9 and resumes on Saturday with another practice session at 1:30. That will be followed by Qualifying at 5, opening ceremonies at 6:45 with Feature Events, including a 40-lap Lucas Oil Modified B Feature, getting underway at 7 PM. The Lucas Oil Modified Series presented by Ram Mounts will close out the evening’s racing action with 75 laps around the three-eighths mile oval.
