26 Promotions – Peoria, AZ – (April 3rd, 2017) – Dale Eliason Jr entered Saturday night’s Showdown at Canyon six points out of the Power 600 Series points lead after finishing runner-up in the first two races of the season. Saturday night, however, was the first time this season that Eliason Jr would face some struggles.
Eliason Jr’s pill draw lined him up on the outside of the front row in Heat 2, but he’d notice something wasn’t right on the way to staging.
“I was noticing when I started heading to staging for my heat that my clutch was going out,” explained Eliason. “That got in my head and we ended up falling back to 5th.”
Eliason Jr would have to transfer into Saturday night’s Feature through the B Main, where he would start on the pole after fixing the issue with the clutch. Eliason Jr would fall back to 2nd coming out of turn 2, knowing the top 3 would transfer, Eliason Jr held his position to grab the transfer spot for the Main.
Starting 16th, Eliason Jr avoided wrecks on the first two attempts to go green. Unfortunately, Eliason Jr’s night would end only a few laps into the Feature.
“I was running the high side to get around a car and he drove up on me,” Eliason said. “The contact popped my throttle cable and bent my axle.”
Eliason Jr would be credited with a 16th place finish.
Dale and the Eliason Motorsport team will have two weeks to regroup before returning to the track on Easter weekend for Canyon Speedway Park’s Easter Eggstravaganza on April 14th and 15th where the Power 600 Series will be running with the wings both nights.
