26 Promotions – Las Vegas, NV – (September 5, 2019) – Cody Cambensy made his third consecutive trip to victory lane Saturday night at the Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Making his first trip to the famed three-eighths-mile oval, Cambensy kicked off the weekend with practice on Friday night to get a feel for the track and tires.

“The tires threw our team a curveball with them being 4 inches smaller than what we are used to and being real racing slicks rather than the one groove Hoosiers we run. We had a lot of changes that needed to be made to make these tires work,” he explained. “We went out for the first session and the truck was actually pretty good. I was just trying to learn as much as I could with it being such a technical one groove track. After a couple sessions we had a great balance on the truck, and I was getting faster as a driver.”

Cambensy and his Tucson Motorsports Inc. team made the decision to sit out practice on Saturday afternoon in an effort to save tires.

The first time Cambensy would see the track on Saturday would be for his heat, where he would start fifth. Cambensy worked his way up to second in six laps and was tracking down the leader as the checkered flags waved.

“The groove for the track is all on the bottom so you need all the bite you can get coming off the turns to try and get under people,” said Cambensy. “With the invert, we would start on the outside pole. I knew I was going to have to clear the leader with a good start to get to the bottom or I would get stuck on the outside.”

Cambensy was able to get a good launch as the green flag waved and clear the pole-sitter going into turn one. Cambensy would begin to pull away from the field before lap traffic would come into play allowing the field to catch up to his bumper.

“My spotter, Brandon Farrington, just kept telling me to hit my marks and focus,” said Cambensy. “After two late-race cautions, I knew I was going to have to really step it up. I was able to learn some new thing on how to drive the truck and picked up some speed opening a big lead and running my fastest laps of the race.”

Cambensy took the checkered flags with over a three-second lead to earn his first victory at the Bullring.

“This was a big win for us making it three in a row and giving TMI a win on the road. This was a pretty technical track and you don’t have time to make a mistake because the guy behind you will move right on up,” he explained. “I cannot thank TMI enough for this opportunity as well as Brandon Farrington and Joe Nelson for the hard work all weekend long.”

Cambensy will be back in the Tucson Motorsports Inc #22 truck on September 14th at Tucson Speedway.

Cody Cambensy would like to thank Dustin Ash Motorsports, Brandon Farrington, Josh Hitchiner, Terry Sukalski, Temperature Control, Davis Motorsports, Grace Boutique, Wells Johnson, Port of Tucson, Lawley Chevrolet, K1 RaceGear, Fiveone Media, and AZ Litho for their support.
